Club Bylaws
Verde Valley 4-Wheelers, Inc.
ARTICLE II PURPOSE OF CLUB
A. Provide social, educational and recreational activities.
B. Participate in and support civic activities for the betterment of the community.
C. Enjoy and protect the natural resources.
D. Support and promote the multiple-use principle as it applies to public lands.
ARTICLE III MEMBERSHIP
A. Member or member family must own a 4-wheel drive vehicle.
B. Members must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driver’s license.
C. Applicants for membership must attend 3 club meetings and 3 club activities within a 12-month period before an application for membership will be considered. New applicants must have all mandatory safety equipment as per Article XI (inspection done by trail boss or elected officers if trail boss not present). A vote of two-thirds of the members present will be needed to accept a new member. This vote will be taken at the first meeting following the fulfillment of the applicant’s requirements. The vote will be by secret ballot. Upon acceptance, payment of an initiation fee and appropriate membership dues will be required. Member’s children who turn 18 and own a 4x4 will automatically become a member upon payment of dues.
D. All members must conduct themselves in a respectable and orderly fashion.
E. All personal expenses, such as uniforms, decals, insignia, etc., will be borne by the individual.
F. When a member no longer possesses a 4x4, his membership in the club shall terminate after one year, unless an exception is granted by the Executive Committee.
G. Indiscriminate use of firearms will not be tolerated. Violation of this rule will result in disciplinary action by the Executive Committee.
H. All members shall abide by all state, local and federal laws.
ARTICLE IV OFFICERS
A. Officers and Board of Directors will be elected to a one-year term.
B. Officers are President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Trail Boss. The Executive Committee will consist of the above-listed officers and the Past President.
C. The President shall preside over all membership meetings. The President shall be the Executive Officer and have the duty to carry out policies and decisions. He shall be without a vote, except for a tie. The President and/or the Treasurer shall sign all checks.
D. The Vice President, in the absence of the President, shall assume all duties of the President.
E. The Secretary shall keep and preserve all records and minutes of Executive Committee and membership meetings. The Secretary shall assume the duties of roll call for attendance and voting records.
F. The Treasurer shall be responsible for reporting accurate club receipts and disbursements of same. The Treasurer and/or President shall have the authority to sign checks for payment of bills and other financial commitments of the club. The Treasurer shall be responsible for recording all membership dues and to notify any member and the Executive Committee when dues are in arrears.
G. The Treasurer will maintain and distribute a membership roster to all members.
H. Nominations of officers will be in October and election of new officers will be in November, and the new officers will be introduced at the December Christmas event.
ARTICLE V MEETINGS
A. Regular meetings will be held monthly or at the discretion of the President.
B. Executive Committee meetings will be held when called by the President.
ARTICLE VI DUES
A. Annual dues for this organization will vary depending on level of membership; single or family. The amount to be paid will be determined periodically by a vote of the membership.
B. Dues must be paid by the January meeting or member will be dropped from the membership roll. Nothing herein contained shall prevent reinstatement of a delinquent member upon payment in full of his unpaid dues within one year.
ARTICLE VII PARLIAMENTARY PROCEDURES
A. Robert’s Rules of Order shall supplement and govern the parliamentary procedures when the bylaws are silent on a question.
B. Each family membership is accorded two votes by family members over 18 in attendance at the meeting is required for this privilege.
ARTICLE VIII AMENDMENTS
By two-thirds vote of members present, these bylaws may be amended. One meeting cycle is required prior to the vote on said amendments.
ARTICLE IX RECALL
Any officer or member of the Executive Committee of the Club may be recalled by a two-thirds majority vote of the entire membership.
ARTICLE X ACTIVITIES
A. All members, including officers, are responsible to the trip leader and/or trail boss.
B. The Trail Boss shall have the authority to deny a person participation in a club activity if he does not have the proper safety equipment as per Article XI.
ARTICLE XI MANDATORY SAFETY EQUIPMENT
1. Roll bar or hard top.
2. Seat belts for all occupants of the vehicle.
3. Fire extinguisher (must meet B & C codes)
4. First aid kit
5. Tow strap
6. Tow points front and rear
7. Spare Tire
8. CB Radio
